SAT is a standardized test administered by the College Board and is required to be taken by students seeking admission to undergraduate schools abroad. The full form of SAT is the Scholastic Assessment Test, which was earlier known as the Scholastic Aptitude Test. SATs have been developed to evaluate the written, verbal and mathematical skills of the candidates.
SAT initially was a pencil-paper test but recently was scrapped and College Board introduced a new version of the SAT, the SAT Digital Exam. The SAT Digital exam is one hour lesser in duration than the older one, and students are allowed to carry their laptops or Chromebook or IPads to take the SAT Digital exam at the test centre. International students, appearing from outside the US can appear for the first SAT Digital Exam on March 11, 2023. The US-based students would be able to take the SAT Digital Exam 2024 onwards. The syllabus, marking and score range for the newly introduced SAT Digital remains the same as the pencil-paper version of the SAT.
The SAT Exam is taken by those who aspire to pursue undergraduate courses, particularly in the US and Canada are required to take the SAT exam. SAT helps students on their path to study abroad in foreign colleges and universities. Earlier, students looking to get admission to a particular course needed to take the SAT subject test but now SAT Subjects are discontinued by the College Board from June 2021. UG aspirants should know when they should start studying for the SAT.
